He leaves to mourn his sons David and Robert (Kim), his grandchildren Corie and Kevin, his sister Betty and many nieces, nephews and friends. He also leaves his special friends Tickles, Teddy, Rascal, Tumone and Duke. He was predeceased by his mother and father James and Mary, sisters (Mary, Kay and Lucy) and brothers (Bill, Albert and Cornie). John was born in 1923. From the time he was born until very late in life all his holiday and spare time was spent at the family cabin in Grand Beach. In fact he met his future wife Lil on the midnight train to Grand Beach on a Friday night in 1946. They were married on May 8, 1948 and spent the next 58 years together. John worked for CN Rail for 35 years retiring in 1985. The last 24 years were spent babysitting and enjoying rest and relaxation. Family and friends were everything to John. As long as he was able he was more than willing to lend a hand with a hammer or saw. But the highlight of his life was keeping up with the lives of his family. He especially loved of hearing about the updates on Corie and Kevin from when they were children to their journey into adulthood. Nothing made him prouder. Kim would like to thank you for being such a great grandpa. At John's request cremation has already taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
