THORDUR JOHANNSON Peacefully, after a short illness with cancer, on April 22, 2009 our father Thordur passed away with family by his side. Thor will be lovingly remembered by his children, Lawrence (Sue), Wally (MaryAnne), Christine (Clarence) Sveinson and Margaret (Cam) Goodman; grandchildren, Crystal (Denis), Einar (Heidi), Sigurdur, Rob, Ryan, Erin and Trevor (Crystal); great-grandchildren, Hughe, Erik, Brayden, Rae-Lynn and Dorian; sisters, Margaret Rae, Kristine (Bert) Best, Anna (Peter) Hryclik. Thor was predeceased by his wife Jorunn in 1994; parents Sigmundur and Christine; in-laws Wilfred and Gertha Finnson; brother Johann Johannson; nephew Bill Best; sister-in-law Alda Hannah; brothers-in-law Doug Hannah, Cecil Rolfe, Jim Rae and our special angel Thora Einarson. Dad was born in Arborg, MB, on October 4, 1930. He started his carpentry at an early age with his dad and brother. He continued on to work in the North and later in Winnipeg and to Gimli in 1970. Dad loved to share stories about his jobs especially up North at Baker's Lake and Rankin Inlet. Many pots of coffee were shared with dad, listening to his stories; we will all miss that dearly. The family wishes to express deepest gratitude to Dr. Aljafari and staff at the Gimli Community Health Centre for all the care and support during our father's stay. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2009, in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli, MB, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Hnausa West Cemetery.
