FLORENCE WORTMAN With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Florence on April 18, 2009 at Concordia Hospital, at 89 years of age. Florence was the last of her generation, the last surviving member of the family of 12 children of Charles and Elizabeth Settee of Matheson Island, MB. She spent a wholesome childhood there and developed a strong work ethic and lifelong love of music. She also developed the cooking skills that served her so well in her working life. She spent many years cooking at fly-in fishing lodges in the Northwest Territories and Ontario and quickly became highly regarded in that world. The highlight of her professional life was accepting the position of executive chef at Club de Pesca, a luxury resort in Panama. Florence's home kitchen was the hub of the family, and with her passing there is no longer one gathering place. Left to mourn are her son Cameron (Leita) Wortman; her daughters Lynda (Les) Janzen and Sandy (Lorne) Tyson. Also, her grandsons, Jerrit Janzen and Jason (Anna) Janzen; her granddaughters, Shauna Wortman, Tanya Wortman (Jason), Jana (James) Lutes and Andrea (Evan) Douglas; her great-granddaughters, Brittni Harder, Madelyn Janzen, Camryn Janzen and great-grandsons Joshua Harder and Carter Lutes. She was predeceased by her husband Donald Wortman, her daughter Marilyn (Rod) Morrison, her son Donald Wayne and her grandson Steven Morrison.
