Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHANNE MCMANUS (nee LARSEN) 1940 - 2009 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished Wife, Mom, Grammie and Sister on April 20, 2009. Hanne will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 43 years, Garry, her children Wendy (Mike), Brian (Annmarie) and Kirk (Jacki), her grandchildren Ryan, Matthew, Caitlin, Bennett, Andrew, Kaylee, Lily, brother Niels and other family and friends. Hanne was born in Hjorring, Denmark. As a child, she immigrated to Winnipeg with her family. In 1962 she graduated as a nurse from Victoria General Hospital, having developed many close and ultimately lifelong friendships. Garry and Hanne were married in 1965 and with the arrival of their children, Hanne opted to retire from nursing and focus on raising her family. Once her children were older, she went back to work as a nursery school teacher at Richmond Kings Nursery School. There, for 19 years, she positively impacted the lives of countless children. Upon her retirement in 1998 she became even more involved in her community. She was a dedicated and caring volunteer at Victoria General Hospital creating many new friends amongst her co-volunteers and hospital staff. Hanne was also involved in her church and was always willing to help out wherever she was needed. Hanne's greatest joy in life was having her family, especially her grandchildren, around her. She was a fabulous cook, master knitter, avid gardener, a friend to many, and enriched the lives of all that knew her. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all of the individuals who shared their love and support with Hanne and her family throughout her long and hard fought battle with cancer. Special thanks to Dr. Ian Maxwell and nurse Anne Anderson for their compassionate care of Hanne. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Ovarian Cancer Canada, www.ovariancanada.org would be appreciated. A celebration of Hanne's life will be held on Monday, April 27, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. at Trinity United Church, 933 Summerside Avenue.

Dear Garry Just heard the news while on vacation in Ireland. Our sincere and deep sympathy. It is particulary sad to loose a friend of 5 decades but an opportunity to remember the great times, especially the early years. I particulary appreciated Hanna's friendship with Susan and terrific help and support when Susan was sick in the 1990,s. The many happy visits to Victoria Beach are recorded in the cottage picture album. I am sorry that we will not be in Canada to join family and friends for the memorial service and you will be in our thoughts.
