MIKE PROKOPETZ 1932 -2009 Peacefully with his family by his side, Dad passed away on Friday, April 17, 2009 at the Beausejour Hospital, at the age of 76. Dad was born in Buchanan, SK. He leaves to mourn, his wife Myrna of 53 years; his children, Shelley, Glenda (Wayne) and Darrell. Dad has eight grandchildren, Christopher (Lisa), Michael, Cristina (Gaston), Kenneth, Jason (Candace), Everett (Lana), Trevor and Trent. Dad also has 12 great-grandchildren, Brayana, Manny, Payton, Jayden, Matthew, Lukas, Kaitlyn, Sydney, Courtney, Tanner, Georgia and Sophie. He also leaves two sisters, Vicky (Tony) and Marie; two brothers, Joe (Olga) and Jack. He was predeceased by his mother Olga, father Anton and brother Walter. Dad first started mining at the age of 18 starting in Madsen and Starret-Olsen, ON. Then going to Bissett, MB in the late 40's to work. He left Bissett in 1968 and went to Lac du Bonnet to work at Dunbarten Mines and Tanco Mines. He continued mining at various mines-Cameron Lake, ON and the last mine being Bond Gold, ON. In 1996 a stroke prevented him from working further. Upon Dad's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service has been held.
