Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANITA MARIE LAVALLEE Peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at the Portage and District General Hospital, Anita Lavallee, widow of the late Del Lavallee passed away at the age of 71 years. Anita was born on July 3, 1937 in Portage la Prairie, daughter of the late Elie and Lea Ducharme. She grew up in St. Ambroise where she attended elementary school. Her high school education was received at the Lorette Convent, following which she attended Charleswood Normal School where she received her teaching certificate. Anita later attended the University in Brandon and went on to teach in St. Eustache, Elie, Toutes Aides, north of Ste Rose, and also St. Ambroise School where she became the principal. Anita and Del were married in 1960 and while Del farmed and fished, she taught school and together they raised their two sons. Anita was a faithful and dedicated member of St. Ambroise Roman Catholic Church. Predeceased by her father Elie Ducharme in 1982 and her mother Lea in 1962, two brothers Alain Ducharme and Denis Ducharme and one sister Geraldine Lavallee. Anita will be sadly missed by her two sons, Wilfred (Myrna) of St. Ambroise and Ronald (Araiden) of Poplar Point; six grandchildren, Channing Lavallee, Chelsea Lavallee, Wyatt Lavallee, Zoe Lavallee, Christie Lavallee and Re-Anna Murray-Lavallee. Also three brothers, Eugene Ducharme of Winnipeg, MB, Armand (Louise) Ducharme of Winnipeg, and Wilfrid Ducharme of Lethbridge, AB; three sisters, Roberta Graham of Brandon, MB, Cecille Ricard of Winnipeg and Angela Lavallee (Gerald) of St. Ambroise, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2009 from 3 - 4 p.m. at Crescent Heights Chapel, 1745 Saskatchewan Avenue West, Portage la Prairie. Prayers will be held on Monday, April 27, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Ambroise Catholic Church followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. A reception will be held in the Community Centre following the interment. The family would like to thank all the Home Care workers, especially Theresa (Lulu) and Sally who dedicated their time to Anita's care for the past five months.
