Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELEANOR DELORES SIGMAR (nee Audette) 1931 - 2009 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, of Ellie Sigmar, our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as she had come to be affectionately known by her friends. Mom was born on June 27, 1931, and raised in Winnipeg where she graduated from business college. In 1950 she was swept off her feet by Murray Sigmar through an introduction by her uncle who worked with Murray in an established real estate firm. Murray proposed to Eleanor and after a brief engagement, they were married in October 1952, at First Lutheran Church. Eleanor continued to work as a private secretary until they started a family. Left to mourn Eleanor's passing are Derrick Sigmar and his sons Thorson and Axel; Roxanne Sigmar and Jamie Tyrrell and her daughters and sons-in-law; granddaughter Lauren and Dan Dewar and Brittany and Joe Beaumont and her great-grandchildren Kyra and Joey. She was predeceased by her husband Stephan Murray; her son Derrick's wife Wendy; her brother Conrad Audette; her parents Elizabeth and Phil Audette. Although in many ways Mom was a private person, she was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She always had a very sympathetic ear to rely on for everyone who needed her advice or encouragement. One of her favourite sayings was love is verb ... not just words . Mom and Dad travelled extensively together to many exotic destinations... Thailand, Barbados, Hawaii, cruises through the Greek Islands - to name a few. During the groundbreaking era in the early 1970s they joined a contingent from Canada that entered Communist Russia to cheer U.S.S.R. hockey games. From father's dream of going to Iceland through to my mother's dream of seeing England, they had many very happy experiences travelling both as a couple and also with their friends and relatives. Once Murray was semi-retired they were able to enjoy their condos in Acapulco and Arizona during the cold winter months in Winnipeg. Once summer arrived, we could head off to the beautiful family summer home on Falcon Lake. Mom loved the waterfront lake cottage and she cherished the many fond family memories of friends and good times. Those memories made Mom so happy for over 40 years. Sadly, the loss of her loving husband Murray had a most devastating impact on Mom and it affected her in so many ways. With each year we saw her health declining and the pain from the rheumatoid arthritis painfully debilitating her. We now take some comfort in the knowledge that she is with him once again in a place where there is no more suffering and heartache. Yesterday I wish for one more day Now that you're gone To thank you and tell you we love you To see your beautiful face one more minute. It is so hard to realize That this is now our reality But we know you will remain in our hearts Till the day we are all together again. Memorial Service celebrating Eleanor's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28th in Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald St. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 680 Archibald St. 253-5086
