DARLENE BETH WILSON (nee ENEFER) June 2nd, 1950 - April 21st, 2009 After a courageous 18 month battle with AML Leukemia, Darlene passed away peacefully at Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) in Toronto with family at her bedside. A past-president and member of the Whitby Mental Health Centre Volunteer Association for over 30 years, Darlene is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, James (Jim); her beloved daughter Bethany Hope; her mother Mrs. Pearl Enefer of Winnipeg; her sister Elaine and niece Megan, also of Winnipeg; several cousins, and many, many friends from near, far and all around the world. Special recognition and gratitude to loving friends Alfreda and Don Noseworthy, whose prayers, calls, e-mails and constant visits to her home and hospital bedside, helped to keep Darlene's spirits up and gave her peace, feeling loved and valued. Grateful thanks for the wonderful care she received, go to the nurses at PMH , her home-care nurse Lilia, and the Rotary Club of Whitby Sunrise, whose members provided support in so many ways. Darlene was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, was a gifted musician, winning awards and competitions on the piano, and playing first violin in the Winnipeg Youth Symphony. Darlene and her husband Jim moved to Toronto in 1971 and Whitby in 1975. Daughter Bethany was born in 1976. Darlene loved the outdoors, camping and travelling. She spent summers in Shelter Valley (Grafton) for over 30 years; was a regular visitor to Walt Disney World, and cruised around the world twice. Darlene was a member of the Notables choir until her health forced her to retire. Friends may pay their respects at W. C. Town Funeral Chapel in Whitby on Thursday, April 30th. No funeral service will be held by request. If desired, memorial donations in Darlene's name, to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
