VINCE CHUBEY It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our precious husband and father on April 24, 2009 with his family at his side at the Health Sciences Centre. He will be dearly missed by his wife Darlene, daughters Karen, Deborah, brother Ivan, sisters-in-law Joan (Ron), Marilyn (Don), many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was predeceased by his mother Lena, father Andrew and sister Chris. Vince was born on June 4, 1944 in Vita, Manitoba. His childhood was spent on the family farm enjoying the simple pleasures life afforded. In 1956, seeking better opportunities for the children the family moved to Winnipeg. Here he attended St. John's High School where he developed friendships that would evolve into lifelong relationships. He then proceeded to obtain his Business Administration diploma at Red River College. Vince and Darlene married in 1968 after two years of a blissful courtship and raised two wonderful daughters, Deborah and Karen. He then referred to his family as My Three Girls. Needless to say, Deborah and Karen were his pride and joy. He relentlessly strived to provide for them in every capacity be it guidance, love, or understanding, forging an unwavering bond that would last a lifetime. They in turn regarded him as The Best of the Best. Vince's professional accomplishments included a distinguished career with the Canadian National Railway. His intellect and determination resulted in a steady progression into senior management culminating at the time of his retirement in 1996 as Regional Manager, Materials Management Canac International for Western Canada. An interest in architecture developed into a lifelong passion for custom built housing projects. He designed and built several magnificent homes in the Tuxedo area for his family. Vince was a true perfectionist and this was evident in these works of art. He took great pride in superior craftsmanship. Tradesmen marvelled at his expertise. Early retirement offered Vince the opportunity and time to do what he enjoyed most - spending time with his family and friends. Fine foods and various forms of entertainment also held a special place in his heart. Frequent trips to Las Vegas were a definite priority. He thoroughly enjoyed our family's New Year's Eve Caribbean Cruise. Toronto excursions to visit Deborah were filled with memories that would be forever treasured. Vince was an extraordinary individual. He was a true gem with a passion for life and a yearning to succeed. He worked endlessly to achieve goals and provide the best life had to offer for his family. Because of these qualities he earned the respect and admiration of those whose lives he touched. We love and will miss you dearly. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Maksymiuk for his devoted care. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 30 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Chapel, 4477 Main St. Flowers are gratefully declined. If so desired, donations may be made in his memory to Cancer Care Manitoba, P.O. Box 2248, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 4A6 or a charity of one's choice. Yesterday I wish for one more day Now that you're gone To thank you and tell you we love you To see your handsome face one more minute It is so hard to realize That this is now our reality But we know you will remain in our hearts Till the day we are all together again.
