Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRENE HART (nee Watson) Peacefully with her family by her side, Mum passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2009, at the age of 81. She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon Thomas Hart and brother Roland Watson. Mum is survived by her children Steven (Shirley), Peter (Marilyn), Maureen (Gido) and Sandra; grandchildren Ryan, Tyler, Sean, Jennifer and Christopher. Mum also leaves a brother Emerson (Ester) and sister Noreen (George) and families. Mum was born on December 21, 1927 in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea in England and grew up in Billingham. At twenty-one Mum met her true love, Gordon, on a college campus and they were happily married for over 50 years. They immigrated to Canada in 1957 where Mum was a devoted wife and mother. Quite talented and creative, Mum was able to turn her handiwork into a part-time job teaching sewing at the high school. She spent many hours doing tapestries, needle point, paper tolle with rock painting being her last focus of attention. Mum spent many years working at Betel Home as a nurses' aide until her retirement at 63 whereby she promptly took up golf and dad became a golfer's widower. She joined the Ladies of the Red Hats Society and proudly wore her red hat and purple boa. Mum loved to travel and her adventures took her to Alaska, the Caribbean, Cuba, Barbados and Greece - to name a few - as well as many return trips to the homeland. Mum lived life as an adventure and this led her to not have any regrets in her lifetime. A memorial service will be held in Selkirk at the Christ Church Anglican, 227 McLean Ave, Selkirk, on Wednesday, April 29th, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev Brad Elliott officiating. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L OK6. Mum, we love you and will forever miss you. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
