BEVERLEY DAVIS (nee MCLEAN) Beverley Davis passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospice on Monday, April 27, 2009. Our beautiful Babtsia fell asleep in the Lords arms comforted by her Ukrainian Orthodox Faith at the age of 68 years. Born in 1940 on October 24th, in Portage La Prairie, she was predeceased by mother Rose Lezun McLean; father Aubray CL McLean; sister Lorraine Rowan. Survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Richard Davis (Winnipeg); lovingly remembered by son Barry McLean (Calgary); daughter Valarie Bakowski (Victoria); and husband Robert Bakowski; grandchildren, Cody McLean, Melayna McLean, Kaitlin McLean, Anne Bakowski and John Bakowski. Beverley was also very close to Auntie Louise Tenzen (Winnipeg) and cousins Billy Didur (Tsawwassen) and Phylis Didur (Waterloo); Brian Tenzen (Winnipeg) and Linda Leonhart (Winnipeg), Sonya Jackson (England); loving mother-in-law Louise Davis (Houston); sister-in-laws Pamela Ratcliffe and Patty McLain (Houston) and nephew Will Rowan (Okotoks). Through her upbringing on the McLean farm in High Bluff, Manitoba, Beverley learned a wonderful work ethic and a love for the land. She will be remembered for being a compassionate nurse, teacher, a caring mother and grandmother whose hands were never idle through the years of dedication to her career and family. Beverley was well respected as a nurse educator and recipient of the Governor General Award, Mensa Member and artist. Always giving...and telling others, please pass it on, you owe me nothing , is what Beverley lived by. Special thanks to Dr. MacDougal, the doctors and nurses who cared for our wonderful Babtsia at the Victoria Hospice and special thanks to Val and Bob for making mom comfortable in the family home during her illness. Prayers were offered on Wednesday, April 29th at 7:00 p.m. in McCall Bros. Funeral Chapel, Johnson and Vancouver Street, Victoria, BC. A Funeral service will be held at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. George, 1100 Colville Road, Victoria, BC on Thursday, April 30th at 10:00 am, with Father Charles Baxter officiating. Interment will follow at Royal Oak Burial Park and a reception thereafter at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. George hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. George. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.mccallbros.com.
