FLORENCE ELIZABETH KONEFAL (nee SCOTT) It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Florence Elizabeth Konefal (Betty) at the Poseidon Care Centre at the age of 81. Her health failed drastically and she was unable to continue with dialysis. Florence Elizabeth Konefal (Betty) passed away on April 27, 2009. Mom was predeceased by her sisters, Hazel and brother-in-law Jack Shoell, May and brother-in-law Sylvester (Rusty) Heska, and brothers Walter and Jim (Flo) Scott. Betty was born on November 26, 1927 in Winnipeg to Florence and John Scott and lived in Winnipeg until 1960 when she and Dad moved to Silver to begin a purebred Hereford ranch. While putting in long and arduous hours on the farm, she also worked at Promo Wear in Arborg. In 1981 at the age of 54, she moved back into the city, completed her GED and began the search for a job. She felt very fortunate to obtain employment at HSC Lennox Bell Lodge and worked there until her retirement. She loved gardening, traveling, sewing and of course shopping! She is survived by her sister Dorothy (Dolly) Jackson; daughters, Lynda (Gary) Ashcroft, Robin (Raymond) Loiselle; grandsons, Geoff (Becky Clark) Ashcroft, Greg (Holly Vialoux) Ashcroft and great-grandson Syfer; nieces and nephews and many good friends. Mom was an active member of the Wolever congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and her belief in the Resurrection comforted her to the end. Mother was a very can do kind of person. She started dialysis in 2004, and in 2006, lost her legs due to diabetes but did not let this stop her from enjoying life to the fullest. She was a role model for us all and will be sadly missed. Cremation has taken place and at her request, a memorial service is planned for June. A notice of the service will appear at that time. Her daughters Lynda and Robin wish to thank the staff of the Poseidon Care Centre for their care and compassion during her stay.
