Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKRISTEN ASHLEY HIMPE Suddenly on April 22, 2009 Kristen Ashley Himpe passed away at the age of 23. Kristen was born on Wednesday, July 31, 1985 in Dauphin MB. She was a happy healthy baby with lots of dark brown hair, beautiful big brown eyes, a strong will and independent spirit. In October 1988 her baby brother was born and she got her first student. They along with friends would spend hours playing schoolKristen was always the teacher. She attended Barker School during her elementary school years and received numerous certificates and awards. While attending Grade Eight at Mackenzie Middle School she was thrilled to be selected to Provincial Honour Band. It was during these school years that she met and made many of her lifelong friends, the people she shared everything with, the people who shared in her good times and helped her through the challenging times. Upon graduating from the DRCSS in June 2003 Kristen moved to Winnipeg and attended the University of Winnipeg to pursue her life long dream of becoming a teacher. As part of her university courses she student taught throughout the city and met and became friends with many co-workers and fellow student teachers. She graduated in June 2008 with a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Science Degree. She moved back to Dauphin and began teaching at Barker School in September 2008. It was surprising to teach at the school she attended as a young child, to consider former teachers family friends' co-workers but she loved every second and made many new friends among the staff. Kristen taught Grade 5 from September to December and Grade 1 from January to April. Not a day passed by where she didn't share a story about her studentsshe loved her job and was so proud of her kids Besides teaching, Kristen was learning to enjoy living back in Dauphin, snowmobiling in the winter, driving a standard, the charm of rural life and cooking up a storm. She was an excellent cook and could make anything from pizza to perogies or sushi to Beef Wellington. There was nothing more that she loved then preparing a meal for her family and just hanging out; laughing and being silly with the Aunties and enjoying every minute of being teased by her brother and cousins. She loved taking pictures and never went anywhere without a camera; she documented everything from family gatherings and nights out with the girls to her pet's antics and home renovations. She loved putting her pictures and treasures into scrapbooks and has left behind beautiful reminders of the joy she brought to us all. Left to cherish fond memories are her parents Wayne and Gail Himpe of Dauphin MB, brother Devin Himpe and girlfriend Robyn Allard of Winnipeg, MB, boyfriend Vince Morton of Ochre River, MB, aunts, Marlene and husband Ken Hafenbrak of Fork River, MB, Carol and husband Allan Roos of Dauphin, MB, Lorraine and husband Howard Hrehirchuk of Saskatoon, SK, cousins, Wendy and husband Danny Kramer of Winnipeg, MB, Ryan and wife Amanda and children Dylan and Carter Hafenbrak of Winnipeg, MB, Gary Hafenbrak of Wainwright, AB, Travis and wife Gail and children Brayden and Austyn Roos of Dauphin, MB, Terran and son Koalton Roos of Dauphin, MB, Brent and wife Lori and children Sara and Seth of Dauphin, MB, Derrick Hrehirchuk of Saskatoon, SK, Rhonda and husband Dave and children Jesse and Jade Davis of Calgary, AB, and numerous friends, extended family, co-workers and students. I was in grade 3 when she passed. Even now I can remember how good she was with students, and how much all the teachers loved her. She meant so much to so many people at that school. Even though I was never her student, I still think about her from time to time. It only hit me how young she was once I reached 23. rest in peace - Posted by: anonymous (student at barker school in 2009) on: Aug 04, 2024

I remember walking into the school and everyone crying, I did not believe that she was gone until one of the teachers looked at me with a gloomy look and told me. I couldn't get what I was feeling through my head. Flashbacks rush in my head about how it didn't matter if the day was bad - she still had the big, bright smile on her face or how she would walk down the hallway, you would know it was Miss Himpe because of her high heels. I remember her as a person who everyone should have known, I remember her as a teacher who saw so much in her students and let them know she saw that. When she would pull her camera out you knew to smile. She taught me to always look at the bright side so I do. - Posted by: destiny patton (student ) on: Oct 28, 2018

I remember she was always happy even on a dark gloomy day, I was only 10 or 11 at the time but I can tell she has made a lasting impression on me, Kristen always told me to turn that frown upside down. She always made a sad day into a happy and awesome day, she always had a camera at her desk in the class. She told us her stories of her trips like going to newfoundland and Labrador, showing us pictures and told us the stories that went with it... The one thing I will always remember is how... She would always find a way for everyone to be comfortable in their environment. I liked how she was always calm and proceeded with everything in a calm matter.. Oh and her heels. She always had heels on. I will always remember her as a great person with a even greater heart. - Posted by: Rayne Richard (I was her student before she passed) on: Sep 08, 2015
