Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMYKHAILO (MIKE) HALUK On Thursday, April 30, 2009, Mykhailo Haluk passed away at the Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 82 years. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Eva; his only daughter, Irene (Ted) Kusie; grandchildren, Michael, Daniel and Stefan. He was predeceased by his brother, Ivan. Mykhailo was born May 11, 1926 in selo Dubiwci, povit Stanislaviw, Western Ukraine. He came to Canada in 1949 and worked in the mines in Sudbury. In 1952 he came to Winnipeg to join his brother. In 1954 he married Eva and together they successfully ran Haluk's Meats and Groceries for many years. Mykhailo was an active member of Institute Prosvita, a founding member of Dumka choir and president of the Prosvita Seniors' Club for many years. Prayers will be sung 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 5 at Metropolitan Cathedral of Sts. Vladimir and Olga, 115 McGregor St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 6 also at the Cathedral with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Mitrat M. Buyachok officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pomich Ukrainia or the Canadian Cancer Society.
