SYLVIA LORRAINE KJARTANSON October 22, 1942 - April 27, 2009 Sylvia passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, in Whitehorse, Yukon, after a very brave battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her husband Franklin Finnson, her sister Bennetta Kjartanson, brothers Phillip and Johannes Kjartanson, parents Jon and Kristjana Kjartanson and sister in-law Lorraine Warren. Sylvia is survived by her children, Bradley Finnson (Jelena Antonic), Denise (Ross) Porter, Veloy (Randy) Gilhen, Justin Brynjolfsson, Stefan Brynjolfsson (Nicole Leigh), Erik Brynjolfsson (Angela Code), grandchildren, Ryan, Branden, Kjartan and Griffin Hewitt and Alexandra and Scott Gilhen. Also survived by brothers Raymond (Gladys) Kjartanson, Oskar (Sandra) Kjartanson, Ben (Yvonne) Kjartanson, brother in-law Ken Warren, sisters-in-law Joy Kjartanson, Doreen Nielson and Helga Anderson, numerous nieces, nephews and cherished friends in both Yukon and Manitoba. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Whitehorse General for all their wonderful care during mom's many stays there. Also special thanks to mom's brother Oskar and his wife Sandra who travelled a great distance, several times, to be with mom during her illness. It meant a great deal to her and to her family. There will be a service held in Whitehorse and then Sylvia will be laid to rest next to her husband Franklin here in Manitoba at a later date.
