IRENE OGILVIE It is with sadness the family announces the passing of Irene Ogilvie on May 1, 2009 at home. She was predeceased by her husband Bill on February 7, 2007. Left to cherish her memory are sons, Jim (Kathie), Allister (Phyl); daughter Heather (Alan) Brown; grandchildren, Jackie (Sam), Kyle (Alanna), Derek (Brittany) and great-granddaughter Kryn. She is also survived by her sister Margaret Watson; sisters-in-law, May and Dot McCallister; brothers-in-law, Tom (Del) Ogilvie, Jack Love, Lorne Emberly; special granddaughter Azure Dee, as well as many nieces and nephews. Born on the farm north of Portage, Irene attended Euclid School, Portage Collegiate and then Winnipeg Normal School. She taught at Delta Beach and Burnside Schools. During the war years she became a bookkeeper and worked in Ottawa, Montreal and Winnipeg, later she returned to teaching in East Kildonan. Irene was a member of Trinity United Church and Patricia Chapter #8 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a very private person for whom the love of family and extended family was very important. She enjoyed nature through gardening and fishing and took great pleasure in traveling. Together she and Bill enjoyed every winter of retirement in warmer climates. In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place, a memorial service will be held at the Omega Funeral Home on Wednesday May 6, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Sunset Palliative Care Inc. Box 92, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 3A7, or a charity of one's choice.
