GUDFINNA KRISTIN BURGESS (THORSTEINSSON) Peacefully, on April 30, 2009, passed away at the age of 84. Kristin was born in Akranes, Iceland on February 7, 1925. She came to Canada with her parents and brother at the age of four months. Kristin was raised in Arborg, MB and moved to Winnipeg in 1943 where she later met and married a young sailor, Alex Burgess. Kristin was predeceased by her loving husband Alexander, her parents Gudrun and Sigurdur, her stepfather Gunnbjorn, and her brothers, Jacob and Tobias. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Bruce (Linda), Kristin Bjurman (Trevors) and Glen; her grandchildren, David (Bonnie), Brian Burgess, Peter, Ryan, Daniel and Natalie Bjurman. Kristin also leaves her new great-grandchild, Ethan Alexander Burgess. She will also be dearly missed by her many friends from her banking days, her church, her club (Army, Navy, and Air Force Veterans #283) and especially her good friend Ron. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of Mom's favorite charities (Lupus Society, Kidney Foundation, Cancer Foundation) or a charity of your choice. Funeral service will be held at First Lutheran Church of Winnipeg, 580 Victor Street (Between Ellice and Sargent), Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Parking is available on Victor and Ellice; wheelchair access at the church is also available. Burial to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave., followed by a luncheon at the Army, Navy, and Air Force Club at 3584 Portage Avenue in Winnipeg. Chapel Lawn 885 - 9715
