ROBERT OAKES It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Robert Garry Oakes, at the age of 35 years on Friday, May 1, 2009. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Lisa, whom he loved dearly; parents Garry and Kathy Oakes; brothers, Jeff (Clarise), Kevin (daughter Ashlynn); Nana Margaret Oakes; Grandpa and Granny Bill and Connie Boyer; father and mother-in-law Les and Donna Schichl and brother-in-law Evan, also numerous Aunts and Uncles, Rory (Nancy), Billy (Linda), Danny (Donna), Craig (Tracy), Susan (Keith), Tim (Louise), Janice (Andre) and Brian (Rhoda), 22 cousins and one very special little niece Ashlynn. Robert was predeceased by his grandfather Robert James Oakes. Robert touched the lives of many people, young and old alike, each of whom he treasured a very special relationship with. Robert was born October 13, 1973 in Pine Falls. He attended school in Lac du Bonnet and transferred to Powerview, graduating in 1991. Throughout Robert's career endeavors, he has worked with many people who were very special to him, becoming his lifelong friends. Robert's outgoing, enthusiastic, caring personality guided him to his work at the Association for Community Living in Beausejour. Robert cherished each day bringing home many enjoyable memories. Robert had numerous hobbies, some of which included baseball, curling, hockey, their trips (especially to Mexico), shopping, cooking, boating, golfing, camping, water skiing, fishing and spending time with family. Robert lived his life to the fullest. His amazing talent at playing his guitar was outstanding, for it was self-taught and he loved to play for his family and friends. Besides his special love for his wife Lisa, Robert also loved his cats Richard, Maggie and Harvey. Robert was a very affectionate, easygoing and beautiful person who loved to meet people and it never took long before he was carrying on a conversation or telling a joke making people laugh. Robert loved his family and friends. He cherished every moment of his life and touched our lives dearly. A celebration of his life will take place on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Great Falls Hall, Great Falls, MB. In keeping with Robert's wishes cremation as taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert's memory may be sent to the Crohn's Society of Manitoba or the Pine Falls Hospital. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the RCMP, EMS, doctors, nurses and staff at the Pine Falls Hospital as well as the Health Sciences Centre for their care and compassion.
