Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCARLO STEFFENSEN Carlo Steffensen, aged 86 years of Gimli, Manitoba passed away at the Health Sciences Centre on May 4, 2009. Carlo will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his wife of 25 years Clara; daughters Mona (John) Achtzener and Janet (Terry) Spearman; grandchildren Mike (Jessica), Donna (Andrew), Karen (Brian), Heather and Scott; great-grandchild Max Achtzener, his brother Kristian (Birgit) of Denmark and niece Conni; stepsons Greg (Mary) Stevens, Richard (Beverly) Stevens, step grandchildren Tracy (Adam Stringer), Alicia (Mike Thompson), Mark, Kris and great- grandchildren, James, Emily and Owen Stringer. Carlo was predeceased by his first wife Else. Born in Denmark on April 6, 1923 Carlo came to Canada in 1951 as a civil Engineer. His love and skill in cabinetmaking lead to a second career and he owned and operated Steffensen Woodworking in Gimli for many years. His expertise and craftsmanship helped to restore the Old Public School building in Gimli which now serves as the Town office. He was an active member of the Gimli Rotary and the Gimli Art Club, putting his artistry to good use. Even when his eyesight started to fail he remained active and helpful and he will be remembered by many as a gentle and loving person. A memorial service will be held at the Gimli Lutheran Church on Friday, May 8, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Interment of ashes will follow in the Gimli Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Diabetes Association, CNIB, or a charity of your choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
