PETER ZYLA 1933 - 2009 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Peter Zyla on Sunday May 3, 2009 at the Selkirk General Hospital. Peter leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 33 years, Norma, daughters Pam (Ian) and Michelle (Andrew), grandchildren Aidan and Mila, cousin Nick (Tina) and their children Daria, John and Natalie (Blaine) as well as many friends. Peter was predeceased by his parents Harry and Teena, sister Mary and brother Alec. Peter was born and raised in the Tyndal and Garson area. Peter was in the Air Force reserve as a firefighter in Rivers, Manitoba. He was a Fire Warden with Ontario Hydro at Whitedog and Caribou Falls. Peter lived and worked in the City of Selkirk, MB and retired from Gerdeau Steel in 1997 after 33 years of dedicated service. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and he especially enjoyed vacationing with them at Clear Lake. Peter was an avid gardener and a Mr. Fix-it. He enjoyed being outside tending to his garden and going for walks. Peter loved to take on many home improvement projects and took great delight in finding a bargain. He also loved to repair his car or any other vehicle that was not running well. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Peter's name to Palliative Care at Selkirk General Hospital, 100 Easton Dr., Selkirk, MB R1A 2M2 or a charity of your choice.
