PATRICK VAUGHN (TRUDEAU) SWAMPY Makate Makwa Kaniibawid (Standing Black Bear) June 24, 1968 May 5, 2009 It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Patrick Vaughn Swampy at the age of 40 years on Tuesday, May 5, 2009. Left to mourn is his sister Trisha, his brothers, Little Gabe (Andi), Dwayne (Jackie), Jason (Carmen), Brennan, Lloyd (Denise), numerous Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews, Godchildren, Khaya Harry, Guy J. Swampy, and Asheley Swampy. Patrick was predeceased by his parents, Gabe and Bertha Swampy his brother Gerald, his Aunty Shirley and Cousin Kevin, his maternal grandparents, Verna and Peter Guimond, and Baptiste and Isabelle Swampy. Patrick was born June 24, 1968 in Pine Falls, MB, the same day that Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau was elected. This is how he got his nickname. Trudeau loved his dancing. He tried so hard to beat his mom on jigging but he couldn't. He also loved to sing just like his mother but he could not beat her at that either. He took after his mom and dad with his love of Bingo and the Pow Wow trail. Patrick was well known for his peculiar ways of dressing and grooming himself. He will be missed by all those that loved him. His Pallbearers will be Dwayne (Punky) Guimond, Jason Guimond, Dwayne Twoheart, Harley Starr, Doug Starr, Adrian Swampy, Mark Alexander, Dale Swampy, Jed Swampy and Clayton Courchene Wake service for Patrick will continue on Friday, May 8, 2009 at house number 642 North Shore in Sagkeeng First Nation. Funeral Services for Patrick will follow on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at St. Alexander Roman Catholic Church at 2:00 p.m., in Sagkeeng First Nation with interment to follow in the parish cemetery.
