ROBERT THOMAS (BOB) CROSSLEY The family of Bob Crossley sadly announce his passing at Concordia Hospital on May 8, 2009 at the age of 77 years. Bob was born in Winnipeg on February 7, 1932, son of Ethel and Thomas Crossley. He will be sadly missed by his wife June, daughters Kim and Karen, son Gordon and his wife Leonne; also by brother Peter, sister-in-law Judith Templeman, brothers-in-law Jack Templeman and Al Gauthier, as well as by his nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Joan Gauthier and sister-in-law Barbara Templeman. Bob grew up in Elmwood and St. Vital, and was involved in Sea Cadets in Winnipeg and Regina, helping to start up the Regina Navy League Corps in 1954. He first worked with the C.P.R. ticket office, and then in the insurance industry and in real estate, finishing his career as Grand Secretary of the Grand Lodge of Manitoba, from which he retired in 2000. Bob became a Mason in 1954 and Freemasonry was a major part of his life. He was honoured to attain the highest order of 33rd Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite. He was a Life Member of Windsor Lodge No. 138, and became Master of that lodge in 1977. He later served as District Deputy Grand Master in 1982 and was made an Honourary Past Grand Master in 1999. He was an honourary member of many lodges in Canada and the US. Bob was well respected in the Masonic order and received many awards for services to the organization. Bob was also a member of the Naval Officers' Association of Canada and of John Black United Church. Following a private family interment, a memorial service will be held at Neil Bardal Inc. Funeral Home, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery), at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, 14 May.
