BETTE FERN HEFT (nee MAJOR) Peacefully, after a short illness, Bette passed away on May 11, 2009 at the Seven Oaks General Hospital at the age of 85 years. She is survived by her sons Bill (Carol) of Vancouver and Len (Gloria). Bette also leaves her brother-in-law Robert (Evie) Heft and sister-in-law Martha Faulkner. Bette was predeceased by her husband William Heft in 1984, siblings Dorothy, Jack, Harry and mother Grace Hargrave. Mom grew up in Brockville, Ontario. She met her husband in Ontario, moving to Winnipeg in the late 1940s. Mom enjoyed camping with her family, and spent many enjoyable years at Granite Lake in Ontario. Mom spent the last five years at Luther Home in Winnipeg. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, with Chaplain Hanny Labun officiating. Viewing will take place from 1:30 p.m. until time of service. Interment will follow. Special thank you to the staff of Luther Home for the care and compassion given to mom over the past five years as well as to the staff of Seven Oaks Hospital, 4th floor Unit 3, for making Bette's final days comfortable.
