PETER ALLEN May 3, 1934 - May 7, 2009 After a courageous battle with cancer, it is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our Dad, Peter Allen, on May 7, 2009 at the age of 75 with our Mom, his best friend and soul mate, by his side. Dad will be greatly missed by our Mom, Shelley, daughters Kelly (Ryder), Shannon (Bob); sons Sean, Mike (Kathy); grandboys Brett and Darcy; brother Mike (Yvonne); nieces, nephews and many other loved ones and close friends. He is predeceased by his parents George and Olive; sister Pat (Charlie) Lee and in-laws Grant and Kae McCaw. Born on May 3, 1934, our Dad grew up on Scotia Street in West Kildonan and has relayed to us many fond memories of his childhood. He also spent a lot of time at the family lodge at Stony Point (Patricia Beach, named after Dad's sister). In his early teens, Dad worked at our Grandpa's garage at Bannerman and Main pumping gas and washing windshields for tips. He pursued a career with Air Canada that spanned 28 years. It is here that he met our Mom. They were married on March 17, 1979 and recently celebrated their 30th anniversary. After Dad's retirement from Air Canada, he became our Mr. Mom. Dad soon went back to work as a school bus driver with the River East School Division. After a few years, he became an entrepreneur. Dad owned and operated a few small family run businesses which led him to his second retirement in 2006. Dad has always enjoyed travelling and spent the last few years of his life visiting Asia, the US and the Caribbean with his faithful companion, our Mom. They could hardly wait for spring to head out to the cabin on the Winnipeg River in Kenora. Dad and Mom were very proud of their place, having built it together in the late 70s. We all grew up there and have many memories of our Dad water skiing, boating and entertaining many friends. Dad was an avid sports fan and enjoyed curling, hunting and skiing, for which he won many medals. We would like to thank the palliative home care nurses, the staff at Riverview Health Centre and Grace Hospital for their support and professionalism. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of our Dad's life will take place on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at 2:00 p.m., at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in Dad's name, to the Riverview Health Centre or a charity of your choice. We will miss you Dad. Love knows not its own depth until the hour of its separation. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
