ANNE SUE WONG It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Anne, on May 6, 2009 in Steinbach, at the age of 70. Anne will always be lovingly remembered by her three sons, Jason (Sandra) of Winnipeg, MB, Dickson Doug of Stratford, ON, Judson (Maggie) of Richmond, BC, and three grandchildren Veronica, Elliot, and Cailey, her eldest sister So Lan Chan of Nelson, BC, her brother Don Chow of Kelowna, BC, and nieces, nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her beloved husband James in 1974, her father Kim Tong Chow Charlie Tong of Vancouver, BC in 1983, mother Yee Sun Chow nee Kwon of Vancouver, BC in 1991 and older sister Sue Kah Wone of Vancouver, BC in 2005. Anne was born on May 12, 1938 in the village of Au Tun, located in the municipality of Hoi Peng. She came to Canada in 1950 and lived with her sister Sue Kah and brother-in-law William Wone in Nelson, BC. In 1955, Anne returned to Hong Kong as a student and met James. They were married in Hong Kong on June 25, 1958, and came to Canada that same year. Anne and James were both from the province of Canton, China. James was from the village of Si Chun, located in the municipality of Toi Shan. Their first home was in Winnipeg, where their three sons were born. In 1967, Anne and James bought a restaurant in Steinbach and the family moved there. Anne was widowed in 1974 and she sold the restaurant shortly after. She raised her three sons in Steinbach with help from her mother-in-law, May Wong. Anne cared for her mother-in-law until May's passing in 1992. For many years, Anne volunteered at the Rest Haven Seniors Home and participated in the ladies group of the EMC church. She was especially proud of her grandchildren and loved to visit with them. Anne loved to read, in particular Readers Digest and newspapers. She enjoyed living in Steinbach and was generous, active and independent in the community. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. The family sincerely thanks Dr. Karen Toews of Steinbach for her kindness and excellent care given to our Mom. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 15, 2009 Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint) with Pastor Rick Bettig presiding. Interment to follow in Brookside Cemetery. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bethesda Foundation in Steinbach, MB. GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 982-7550
