ELEANOR ELIZABETH MILNE 1943 - 2009 After a seven year courageous battle with cancer with her family by her side, heaven welcomed our guardian angel on May 10th, 2009. Mom was predeceased by her parents Elvin and Katherine Parker. Eleanor (Miss Ellie) is survived by her husband Donald; children Patty (Eugene) Sansregret, Michele LaPointe; sister Sandra Miller; grandchildren Crystal (Cory) Toyne, Kyle Sansregret, Marisa and Nicholas Thompson; great-grandchildren Pazia, Makenna and soon to be baby Ellie Toyne. She will also be greatly missed by dearest friends Arneil, Kathy, Sheila and numerous other family and friends. After serving 17 years with the Government of Manitoba, Mom spent her time making other lives better. After retiring Miss Ellie devoted herself to the Interlake Women's Resource Centre. As one of the Founders of Miss Ellie's Place , Mom touched many lives by sharing her special love, kindness and generosity. Eleanor's greatest passion for life was her family. After being diagnosed with cancer she made sure that every day, every moment was one we could all treasure. Mom's greatest wish was to be here for her granddaughter Marisa's graduation and the birth of Baby Ellie. Although she is not here physically we know that Nan is with both of you in spirit. Her battle was not an easy one and many days when we would cry about the pain and suffering she was going through her response would be don't worry my dears' I will fight this . Although all the things that Ellie wanted to do may not have been accomplished by her, she has instilled in us the strength, courage, knowledge and love to carry them out. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Aljafari, nursing staff and very special health care aids at Gimli Hospital for their care of mom. They treated her with respect and dignity in her last days and were a tremendous support to our family during this difficult time. Mom referred to them as her angels. Thank you also to the home care workers that have cared for Ellie over the last year. Rest now mom and know that you taught us as long as we stick together we will be okay. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations are made to Eleanor's favorite charity, the Interlake Women's Resource Centre, Box 1991 Gimli, Manitoba, R0C 1B0 to offer hope and healing for the families that require the services provided at Miss Ellie's Place . Funeral Service will be Thursday, May 14th, 2009, 10:00 a.m., Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg. We love you mom
