DOROTHY CAROLINE STEWART (nee Beckman) Peacefully on May 11, 2009, Dorothy passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 77. Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband Albert and her brother Richard. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered and missed by her daughters, Patty and Sue, son-in-law Russell and grandsons Graham and Kevin. She is also survived by her sister Barbara, brother-in-law Don, sister-in-law Ruth and their children. Dorothy was born and raised in St. James and resided in Fort Garry her whole married life. She devoted her life to her family. Dorothy loved children. She volunteered as a Sunday school teacher and helped children with reading at school. From the time she was a young girl, Dorothy enjoyed knitting. She was well known for the beautiful sweaters, afghans, mittens, baby outfits, doll clothes and dishcloths that she knit for family, friends and those in need. Mom passed on her love of reading, gardening, preserving, baking and handwork to us. Memories of handmade gifts, fresh veggies from the garden and bedtime stories will always be treasured. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothy's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 0R3. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with a reception to follow. Interment on Wednesday, May 20 at 9:30 a.m. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
