SAMUEL JOHN (JACK) HERD On Monday, May 11, 2009, at St. Boniface Hospital, Jack passed away peacefully at the age of 81 years after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's and diabetes. Jack is survived by Bernice, his loving wife of 58 years; his children: Laurie Herd of Toronto; Jeff Herd (Stephanie Rouet); Cathie Herd (John Denomme); Mary Herd (Bill Redekop); Anthony Herd (Darlene); Clare Macsymetz (Russ); Karen Herd (Ken Mytruk); grandchildren: Sarah and David Albo; Maeva and Shani Herd-Rouet; Ethan Redekop; Tim, Jacob and Katie Herd; Michael, Nathan, Matthew and Bethany Gerardy; Stephen and Kelsey Macsymetz; Adam and Kyle Mytruk. He was predeceased by his parents, step-father, sister, brother and niece. The family would like to thank Dr. Teresa Cavett for her care and compassion and the staff on 6A South, St. Boniface Hospital, where Jack spent his last two months. Cremation has taken place and a funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at 11:30 a.m. in St. Joseph the Worker, 505 Brewster St., with Father Jan Spyrka and Father Jim Gray officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined.
