SATINDER KAUR ROOPRA It is with great regret we inform all families and friends that our beloved Satinder Kaur Roopra, lovingly known as Sigi, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 14th, 2009 at Victoria General Hospital, at the age of 50. She was amongst all her family and friends during her courageous fight with cancer. Sigi was born in Nairobi, Kenya on December 14th, 1958 to proud parents, Takhat Singh and Mohinder Kaur Virdee. She later moved to London, England along with her elder brother, Satpal Singh Virdee and younger brother Manjit Singh Virdee. At the age of 21, Sigi married and began another beautiful chapter in her life with her husband, Inderjit Singh Roopra and moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba. Sigi was blessed with three beautiful girls, Deenish, Sumeet and Simran, who have taken on all of her special qualities. Sigi can be described as an exceptional and strong woman who brought love, understanding and warmth to every person she had known. Sigi will always continue to hold a special place in all of our hearts and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Ian Maxwell and his staff at the Buhler Cancer Centre at the Victoria General Hospital. The funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., Winnipeg, followed by prayers at Gurudwara Deshmesh Darbar, 566 Archibald Street, Winnipeg.
