DOROTHY CATHERINE LYNCH Dorothy Catherine Cameron Menzies Lynch, widow of Gerald James Lynch, who predeceased Dorothy in 1990, passed into the Hands of Our Lord on Monday, May 4, 2009, at Misericordia Place. Dorothy was born on August 30, 1915, to Alexander Carlisle Menzies and Elizabeth Adam McCallum Menzies. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents in 1929, her brother Dr. J.A.M. Cameron of Calgary and her sister Marjorie McCallum Menzies Cameron Foucar of Ottawa. Dorothy was born in Winnipeg and received her BA from the University of Manitoba, pursuing her business career with the Marine Insurance and British American Insurance Company. Dorothy was a published author, writing on a variety of subjects which appeared in the Winnipeg Real Estate News. Her focus was on non-fiction, writing particularly about historic Winnipeg sites and biographical vignettes. Dorothy published an instruction manual How to Become a Second-Wind Writer , a guide to assist seniors to record their life histories. Dorothy has enjoyed interests and pastimes which included bridge, photography and world-wide travel by automobile, rail, air and cruise ships. Dorothy was a member of Westminster United Church, Penhandlers, and a former member of the Manitoba Historical Society. A special thanks to the members of Penhandlers for their kind and generous support, the staff of the St. Boniface Hospital Emergency Ward and a very special recognition of appreciation to Mrs. Erica Neumann, R.N. of Seniors Comfort Inc. and her staff of care givers for their unselfish dedication, and caring attendance, during Dorothy's long period of illness. A very special thanks of appreciation is extended to Mr. Ernst P. Schell for his vigilant, meticulous care, 24/7 since 1990 to the present and his management, of all matters and needs in providing consistent attendance in regard to Dorothy's everyday life requirements. In accordance with Dorothy's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private interment service was held, officiated by Rev. Joan Jarvis of Westminster United Church. A reception honouring Dorothy's memory will be held at Westminster United Church, 745 Westminster Avenue, on Wednesday, May 20, at 2:00 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined.
