CHRISTINA SARAH FONTAINE March 21, 1919 - May 19, 2009 Our dear mother left us to be with her Creator on May 19, 2009. Christina was predeceased by her late husband John M. Fontaine in 1981; and her mother Sarah Bunn and father Morris Courchene; also by her five children in infancy; her two sons, Nicholas and Teddy; two daughters, Cecile and Bridgette; her sisters, Rosie, Elize, Alva; and brothers, Paul, Edward and Bernard. She is survived by her four daughters, Lucy (John), Laura (Renee), Audrey and Cindy; also by her three sisters, Auntie Marie, Auntie Felicite and Auntie Cecile, as well as all their children. Christina had 24 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Mom spent 15 years of her life in the residential school in Fort Alexander. She worked as a cleaning lady in Pine Falls for a number of years before she was employed at the residential school in Fort Alexander, Dauphin and Portage La Prairie as a cook till her retirement. Mom liked going to church and always said her Rosaries daily. She liked to do her knitting and crocheting, watching movies and listening to her Charlie Pride music. She always made people laugh by her unintentional humourous behaviour. All her relations are to consider themselves honourary pallbearers. Active pallbearers will be Terry Henderson, Dave Fontaine, Shawn Chippeway, Clifford Fontaine, Donovan Fontaine and Kevin Alexander. Wake for Christina will begin Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at St. Alexander Roman Catholic Church hall in Fort Alexander. Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 22, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. also at St. Alexander Roman Catholic Church with interment to follow. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Rock Fontaine call toll free at 1-866-499-2601 or in Winnipeg at 223-2576.
