Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHEDWIG (HEDY) JANZEN Our beloved sister, aunt, cousin and friend, Hedwig (Hedy) Janzen of Winnipeg, Manitoba, born September 2, 1928 (at Ste. Elizabeth, Manitoba), passed away at Concordia Hospital on May 18, 2009. Hedy was predeceased by her cherished sister, Sara Enns, brother-in-law, Arthur Enns and sister, Aganetha, who died in infancy. She is lovingly remembered by her brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Agnes Janzen, as well as her nieces and nephews. Hedy cared for people and her work career demonstrated that. She spent many years in nursing and later worked in the province's home care program. Hedy lived her life to its fullest, her adventurous spirit taking her to many countries. A retirement project for Hedy was to research the Janzen family tree; this project gave her additional opportunity to discover relatives in South America and Europe. And now she is at her ultimate travel destination in heaven with her Lord and Saviour. We will deeply miss this special lady, who served everyone around her with care and compassion. We hold her legacy of loving encouragement and steadfast faith dearly in our hearts. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2009 at the Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church, 926 Garfield Street, Winnipeg with interment at the Ste. Elizabeth Lichtenau Cemetery at 4:30 p.m. Viewing will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2009, from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m., with a devotional at 8:00 p.m, at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg and at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mennonite Central Committee, 134 Plaza Drive, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3T 5K9. Special thanks to the ICU staff at Concordia Hospital for their compassionate care.
