JAMES ERNEST (ERNIE) DIACK 1921 - 2009 James Ernest (Ernie) Diack passed away on May 15, 2009. Ernie is survived by his loving wife, Jay, married for 61 years, sons Jim (Betty), Bruce (Shelly), Robert (Lori) and daughter Barbara, brothers Arthur, (Kelowna, BC) Alfred (Joanne) and sister Margaret (Ken) Henderson, (Winnipeg, MB) as well as numerous grand-children and great-grandchildren. Ernie was a Second World War veteran having served in the RCNVR on convoy duty during the Battle of the Atlantic, participating in the Juno Beach invasion. He enjoyed a long career with the Winnipeg Police Force and he was the Sgt-at-arms at the Manitoba Legislature. After living in Winnipeg for 82 years, he moved to Qualicum Beach, B.C. to be near his children. He was actively involved with the Royal Canadian Legion for 65 years and was a life member. Memorial Service will be held at Qualicum Beach Branch 76 of the Royal Canadian Legion on Sunday, May 24 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, in his name, to the R.C. Legion Branch 76.
