Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHARON AMALIA SCHICK (nee SMITH) Sadly the family announces the passing of Sharon Schick, on May 18, 2009. Sharon passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Concordia Hospital. She is survived by one daughter Sherry (Tom) Dunstan, two sons Bruce (Bev), and Glen all of Winnipeg. Five grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael, Jason, Tracy, Lisa, one great-grandson Justin. She is predeceased by her husband Edward, daughter Gwen as well as her parents, sisters and brother. Sharon was born June 6, 1931 in Winnipeg and in 1950 she married Edward Schick raising their family in the Elmwood/East Kildonan area. Family was extremely important to Mom and their needs always came before hers. The family always gathered at Mom's house for Sunday dinner where everyone could catch up on the weekly events. Summer camping vacations were a favourite and in 1979 the family cottage was purchased at Barrier Bay in the Whiteshell where many enjoyable times have been spent. She was a kind and loving Wife, Mom and Gramma. Her grandchildren have spent many nights sleeping over with Gramma. She was their biggest fan at all sporting events and school activities. No rink was too cold or field too hot for Gramma and she was sure to point out which kids belonged to her. Mom was very proud of her four children and would pride herself on sharing their accomplishments with all her friends. Her memory was outstanding and we all counted on her to remember the important dates for everything. Her Christian faith was her confidence. Mom was a member at Holy Cross Lutheran Church all her life. She was baptized, confirmed and married there and was an active member in the church choir for more years than we can remember. Sharon began her working career at Elite Metal at the age of 14. She reduced her hours as her children were born and took the summers off to be with them. She retired from Elite in 1990 and has enjoyed many years of retirement. Special thanks to the Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic attendants and the staff in the ICU ward of Concordia Hospital. Funeral service will be held Friday, May 22 at 1:00 p.m. at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 708 McCalman Ave. Interment will take place at Chapel Lawn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sharon's name, to the Holy Cross Lutheran Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Pallbearers will be Michael Tober, Jason Schick, Tom Dunstan, Vern Smith, Darryl Smith and Steve Kullman. Funeral Arrangements in care of: WHEELER FUNERAL CHAPEL 211 REGENT AVENUE (AT BOND) 224-1525
