ANNA (HONEY) MICHALOWSKI Peacefully with her family by her side, Anna Michalowski passed away at the Concordia Hospital on Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at the age of 81 years after a brief battle with cancer. Anna will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 54 years, Phillip; brothers, Mike and John Winnicky; and sister Cathy (Steve) Maydaniuk and many nieces and nephews. Anna was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Mary Winnicky; sister Katherine; brother Walter; and sisters-in-law, Shirley, Nettie and Olga. Anna was born in Caliento, MB on October 6, 1927. She left home at the age of 16 to enter the work force and retired from the catering department from Health Sciences Centre, after some 20 years of employment. Anna married Phillip on July 3, 1954 and resided in Winnipeg, spending many, many weekends on the farm at Arborg and the last 25 years, spent caring for her husband after numerous strokes. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Concordia Hospital and Concordia Village, who provided Anna support and loving care. Prayers will be offered Friday, May 22, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. at All Saints Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 1500 Day Street with Fr. J. Melnyk officiating. Funeral service to follow on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. also at the church with Fr. Bill Wasyliw officiating. Interment at Transcona Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Allan Maydaniuk, Tim Maydaniuk, Donald Winnicky, Rick Winnicky, Ivan Winnicky and Tim Winnicky. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, memorial donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or All Saints Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
