She will be deeply missed by her husband Les; son Robert and wife Loreen and their children, Kaitlyn and Jennalee; daughter Shayla and husband Roger and their children, Braeden and Andrew. Gladys was born August 21, 1933, in Morden (Thornhill), Manitoba to Donald and Bessie Alsop, the fifth of six children. She attended University of Manitoba and obtained her Bachelor of Education degree. Gladys enjoyed a career teaching at Darlingford, Tracy School, Andrew Minarsky and Luxton. She retired from teaching to devote her time to her family. Mom was tireless in her efforts to ensure that all in our family were raised in a loving home. One of Gladys' greatest passions was researching her Scottish family history. Later in life, Gran's greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. The walls of her house are filled with artwork and pictures displaying her great pride in her family. Sunday dinner will not be the same without Gran (Ama) spending most of the meal asking everyone else what she can get for them. Gran was selfless with her time and was always offering to lend a hand to anyone in need. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 23 at 2:00 p.m. at St Paul's United Church in Morden, Manitoba, interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, in lieu of flowers.
