DEAN WARREN REDSKY GINIW (GOLDEN EAGLE) Suddenly on May 18, 2009 our brother Dean passed on to the Spirit World at the age of 42 years. Dean was predeceased by his father Raymond Lafreniere and his mother Edith Redsky. Mourning Dean's passing are his immediate family, his sons, Anthony and Geoffrey; his siblings Ted (Maureen), Rozanna (Manz), Andrea, Glenna and Sheila; nieces Faith, Emma; nephews Cody, Colby, Ryan, Liam, Waabi B; long-time family friends The Lacoff Family; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Dean was born in Fort William, Ontario on August 23, 1966. He had many interests and gifts, with a love of music and a passion for mixing with turntables and cassettes. Queen, David Bowie, Wings, Supertramp, Bob Marley and UB40 were a few of his favourite artists. Dean also enjoyed working with his hands doing auto body work as a hobby, and had worked professionally in the sheet metal trade. Growing up in the north end of Winnipeg, Dean made many friends. At Argyle High School he regarded his classmates proudly in his graduation Valedictorian speech. Dean also enjoyed travelling to his home community Shoal Lake 40 First Nation, Ontario often hitch-hiking back home to visit. A gathering for family and friends will be held at the Thunderbird House, 715 Main Street, in Winnipeg on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. A family gathering and burial will also take place on Friday, May 22, 2009 at Shoal Lake 40 First Nation where a sacred fire is lit. No outdoor shoes at the Thunderbird House. Women wear long skirts. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice. Prairieland Aboriginal Funeral Home, Winnipeg (226-7581) in care of arrangements.

  • I remember my Uncle and his great life, he loved lots of music and so do I. Me and my mother would always visit Dean to feed or stay for chat and entertainment, The time we had with him was savoured and kept.
