FRANCES BERMAN (nee AVERBACH) January 26, 1919 - May 21, 2009 Last surviving child of Jacob and Bath Sheva Averbach (founders of Chicago Kosher) of Winnipeg. Graduated St. John's High School and University of Manitoba with B.Sc. in Home Economics. Practised as a registered dietitian. Active participant in the provincial and national organizations during which she was nominated for Manitoba Woman of the Year. After retirement, Frances moved to Vancouver where for many years she did volunteer work in the community. Predeceased by her brothers Abraham Averbach and Muni Averbach both of Winnipeg and Irving Averbach last of Vancouver Survived by her three sons Barry of Edmonton, Les of Los Angeles and Joel (Sandy) of Vancouver and her grandchildren David in Edmonton, Stephen and Jeremy in Calgary, Daniel and Amanda in Los Angeles and Jessica and Zachary in Vancouver and numerous nieces and nephews. Donations in lieu of flowers to Louis Brier Home and Hospital, Jewish Home for the Aged Society of BC, 1055 West 41st Avenue, Vancouver, BC V6M 1W9.
