Date of Passing: May 16, 2009
Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD HAROLD FINCH-FIELD December 27, 1919 - May 16, 2009 With great sadness the family announces the courageous passing of Edward from an aneurysm on May 16, 2009 at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. He is survived by his loving wife Marjorie (Kamins); son Bradford; daughters, Delwynn Gates (Brian), Mylene Des Marais (Garth Light); granddaughter Ashley Young; sisters, Edith and Lois, and many nieces, nephews and cousins across Canada and England. Edward proudly and honorably served in the Canadian Army in the Second World War and was a POW in Germany for 18 months until he was liberated in 1945. For 33 years Edward was a successful optician in Winnipeg and retired from Imperial Optical at age 65 in 1985 to travel the world and enjoy life. For 15 years Mom and Dad traveled across Canada, the U.S. and to Europe, Africa, and their favorite location of Cypress while living part time at Falcon Lake and Phoenix, AZ. In 1999 they settled in Charleswood (Winnipeg). We'll miss your love, companionship, sense of humor, and playing cards on Sundays. You were a good husband, father, grandfather - we hope you know how much we love and miss you. Edward will be cremated and rest at Brookside Cemetery. A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 25, 2009 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg. We gratefully thank the St. James Legion for their tribute.
