ANNA MACFARLANE (nee RUMAN) 1925 2009 On May 19, 2009 our loving mother Anna Macfarlane quietly passed away at the age of 84 years. She is survived by her daughter Heather (Wayne Gogal); daughter Nancy (Matthew Ellis); son John (Barbara Macfarlane); her grandchildren, Trina and Tara; Robin, Rory and Ian; Brett and Brylee; and her great grandson, Zave. Anna was predeceased by her good man Donald Macfarlane, her parents Frank and Anna Ruman (nee Farkas) and her siblings (as children). Anna was born in Nagybecskerek, Yugoslavia in 1925 and immigrated to Canada in 1935. Anna was a talented woman who trained as a graphic artist. She played both piano and violin (the latter in the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra). Anna was fluent in five languages. Anna married the love of her life on September 28, 1954. She was sweet and soft-spoken and there was nothing she would not do for her family. Anna will be lovingly remembered for her caring and giving nature, her unlimited kindness, the sight of here smiling face, and the warmth of her embrace. Anna was adored by her grandchildren who have many happy memories of time spent at Grandma's house. In following Anna's wishes, there will be no funeral service, and a private family gathering will be held. We would like to express our thanks to the Riverview Health Centre staff. Their caring and compassion is so greatly appreciated. Please consider a memorial donation to the Riverview Health Centre Foundation, 1 Morley Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3L 2P4 or to the Alzheimer Society, Manitoba, 10 - 120 Donald St. Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 4G2.
