Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATE ANN AMELIA (RHOADES) MARTIN (nee FIRTH) In celebration of our mother's long and fulfilled life, it is with deep regret the family announces the passing of mother Kay, on Friday, May 22, 2009 at the age of 95 years. Remaining to forever cherish Kay's memory are her surviving children, Colleen (Joe), Barbara (Garry), Tom (Bev); grandchildren, Lori, Dwayne, Janel, Lisa, Barbara (Jared), Joanne (Wes), Wendy, Joey, Darren (Tamara), Lisa (Kevin), Cary (Robin), Shannon (Ron), Shelly (Bill). She has been preceded by her husbands, Jack Rhoades and John Martin; and her son Larry. Our mother had many interests in life, being the first charter Madam President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Erie 23 Ladies Auxiliary, and held numerous offices within the Erie. She loved her bowling, bingo and the summers at the Golden Eagle Rod and Gun Club, travelling plus officiating at many of the Eaton's Tea's. Mom also had a love for sports and enjoying card playing with Colleen, which she did right up to the end. For those who wish viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to Kate's funeral service, which will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in the Silver Heights United Church, 199 Garrioch Avenue (Corner of Mount Royal Road and Ness Avenue). Parking will be available in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church parking lot located on Ness Avenue. Interment will held in Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Avenue. Pallbearers will be son Tom; sons-in-law, Joe Rindall, Garry Schneiderat; and family friends, Bob Menard, Ed Delisle and Brent Mclean. Honorary pallbearers are Don and Doug Stewart. Special thanks to all the staff at Middlechurch especially those who cared for Mom on B2, Neil Barbour the Bag Piper and her cousin Doug Stewart for his singing. In lieu of flowers, Kay's wishes were to make donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6-200 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
