THEODORE (TED) GOVATSOS December 26, 1936 - May 23, 2009 With great sorrow we announce the sudden and tragic passing of Theodore (Ted) Govatsos on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at the Grace Hospital, at the age of 72 years. Ted was born in Metamorphosis, Greece on December 26, 1936 and immigrated to Winnipeg in 1956 for a brighter future. He worked at various restaurants; and was known for his kindness, generosity and his zest for life. He had a great sense of humour, was a huge sports fan, but most importantly family was number one. Ted leaves behind his loving wife of 26 years Ruby; his sister Matina and family, his brother Sam and family, his sister-in-law Sotiria (Loula), his nephew James and grand niece Sotiria, his niece Vicky and her husband Keith, and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins in Greece. As well, his brothers and sisters-in-law; Harold, Nancy, Ester, Al and their families. Ted was predeceased by his two brothers John and James, who all came to Canada at about the same time. Special thank you to Mrs. Carole Finlayson for all her help. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Lung Association or the Hellenic Cultural Center. Prayer service, followed by a reception will be held on Tuesday, May 26 at 7:00 p.m. and the Funeral service on Wednesday, May 27 at 11:00 a.m. Both Services will be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2255 Grant Avenue.
