Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMYRTLE OSIOWAY - THORBURN It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our dear sister and aunt, Myrtle Osioway-Thorburn on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. Remaining to forever cherish Myrtle's memory are her sister Helen Oshiro, Plainsboro, NJ; her nieces Tamis Oshiro, New York, Carla Oshiro-Hsin (Ernest), San Francisco and her grand nephew James Hsin. Also, her sister Jean (Everett) Crosby, her nieces Debbie (Dave) Whitley, Karen (Chris) Smith and nephew David (Janet) Crosby, all of Oshawa, Ontario, grand nieces Carissa and Courtney Smith, grand nephews Aaron and Matt Smith, also of Oshawa, Ontario. Myrtle is also survived by cousins Stanley and Olga Chura of Beausejour, Manitoba and their families; and by cousins and second cousins of the Sereda family in the Beausejour-Winnipeg area. She was predeceased by her husband Walter Thorburn in 2000; her mother Pearl Osiowy in 1972 and father Stanley Osiowy in 1990; also by her brothers Joseph, Henry and Louis and her brother-in-law Dr. George Oshiro. Born in Cloverleaf, Manitoba in 1934 Myrtle spent most of her life in Winnipeg. She was employed by Air Canada in the Finance Department for 30 years. She travelled extensively and was devoted to her family. Myrtle and Walter were married in Winnipeg in 1986 and shared a life together for 14 years. Upon retirement, they enjoyed summers at their cottage on Long Pine Lake in Ontario. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday May 27, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Cathedral, 353 St. Mary Avenue, with Rev. Fr. Michael Koryluk, presiding. A private family interment will take place on Friday, May 29, 2009. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a contribution to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, St. Mary's Cathedral, 353 St. Mary's Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 0M8 or their favorite charity.
