Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARILYN JOY GORDON After a lengthy illness, on May 24, 2009, Marilyn Joy Gordon passed away at Riverview Health Centre, Winnipeg, at the age of 68. Born July 12, 1940 in Winnipeg to Robert and Louretta Wells of Marchand, Manitoba, older sister to Roberta. She grew up on the family farm, schooled in her early years in the schoolhouse run by her mother. She moved to Winnipeg to attend Gordon Bell High School. In Winnipeg she met and wed Keith Gordon, marrying in 1959. Together they founded and ran St. Vital Electric, an endeavor that, in time, grew beyond the confines of their long-time home on St. Vital Road. The Gordon family dining room table hosted employees, pit crew and friends for over 35 years. Marilyn was the winner of a number of Manitoba Master Angler rewards, being a firm advocate of catch and release. Her enthusiasms included camping at Black Lake and the Big Whiteshell, bird watching, gardening, and watching her children and grandchildren grow. Her door was always open, and the coffee pot was always on. She seemingly fed everyone who passed through her door. She leaves to grieve three children, Robert Gordon (with wife Joanne and children Devon and Reilly Gordon, Richard Nelson (along with fiancee Chelsea Heinrichs), Bradley Gordon, and Gail Bedosky (along with husband Jeff and daughter Brenna). Also left to grieve are her sister Roberta Wells, nieces Nichole Cyr Hiebert (husband Colin and son Carson) Roxanne Cyr, great grandchild Jazmyn, and a lifetime of friends and extended family. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Avenue, Thursday, May 28 at 1:00 p.m. Interment shall be handled at a later date. Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association. The family wishes to acknowledge the dedication and kindness of the staff of the Riverview Health Centre, 3 East Wing, specifically Dr. St. Godard.
