PAULINA SPAKOWSKI Surrounded by her family and on the gentle wings of an Angel, our beautiful loving Mother was released from her earthly bonds to continue her journey to our Heavenly Father on Saturday, May 23, 2009. Mom was born in Meleb, Manitoba on May 3, 1919 to Steve and Christina Burak. She was predeceased by her husband Stanley and sister Annie. Left to cherish her wonderful memories are children, Orville (Joyce), Laara (Jill), Debbie (Donald) and Cindy (Stone); her grandchildren, Susan, Michelle, Michael, David, Shannon, Curtis, Lauren, Jared and Brittany; her great-grandchildren, Sam, Skylar, Tyra, Joshua, Turner and Madisyn; sisters, Mary Sokil, Jessie Dell, Jean Zagrodnik, Kay Rondeau; brother William (Flo) and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom's early days were spent on the family farm where she was no stranger to hard work. She always had many stories to tell of her early days and the hardships of life at that time. She married Dad in 1937 and they settled in Winnipeg Beach, residing there until Dad's passing in 1979 then moving into the city and living in her own apartment. Mom's life revolved around her family and home. She loved gardening and cooking. Her kitchen was always a hub of activity with pickling, preserving and baking. You would always find a pot of her homemade chicken noodle soup or a pot of borscht simmering on the stove - no one left hungry! Mom was a soft-spoken gentle soul and was very young at heart. She loved indulging in the simple pleasures that life had to offer. She loved reading and listening to her favourite CDs. One of her most favourite pastimes was having tea and toast outdoors on the yard swing while enjoying the beauty of nature all around her. She also enjoyed returning home to Winnipeg Beach on Sundays in the summer where we would all pamper her. Mom had a beautiful voice and made a point of calling and singing to all of us on our birthdays and Valentine's Day. She was an incredibly strong woman, always thinking of others. Mom always dressed in fashion and carried herself in grace and femininity. We celebrated Mom's ninetieth birthday on Sunday, May 3, 2009 with family and friends. She loved us all so dearly and we will cherish her memory forever. Mass of Christian Burial and celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, May 30 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Parish, 341 Munroe Avenue. Private family interment to take place at Glen Eden Funeral Home. Beauty and Grace Through her expressions of faith Comfort and Tears She helps calm our fears Love and Light She's always our guide There'll never be another Quite like our Loving Mother.
