DAPHNE HAGANS It is with deep sadness that the family of Daphne Lynne Hagans (nee Hassan) announces her sudden passing on Saturday, May 23, 2009 in Winnipeg, at the age of 44 years. Left to honour Daphne's memory are her parents Joyce and Keith Hassan; her three children Amber, Mitchell and Pte. Matthew Hagans,; their father Mike Hagans; her brothers, Rick (wife Jen) and Jeff; sister Joey, as well as many family and friends. She was predeceased by her grandparents Susan and Jim McClelland, Ella and Bill Hassan, as well as her precious daughter, Jamie Lynne. Daphne was born in Winnipeg on December 1, 1964. She was an accomplished student involved in many extra-curricular activities, specifically, the Orioles Community Club where she was a Majorette and won many competitions; figure skating; The Fort Garry Cadet Corps (Sgt); Fort Garry Horse Reserves (Pte) as well as the HMCS Chippawa where she was an Administration Clerk. Daphne was a dedicated employee of Unicity Taxi for 17 years and will be fondly remembered and missed by all her co-workers. She was a child of the 60's and loved to listen to Elton John, Patsy Cline, Heart and the Carpenters but also developed a love for Reggae music in her later years. She loved the sun and used to love to take her children to Winnipeg Beach for a swim, even if only for an hour. All of her children are accomplished swimmers and she ensured that they were taken to their lessons and provided with the opportunity to hone their swimming skills. A lover of new recipes, Daphne would often experiment with cooking dishes to the joy of her children. A celebration of Daphne's life will be held on Saturday May 30, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Base Chapel 17 Wing, 2235 Silver at Whytewold Road. Reception will follow in ANAF #283, 3584 Portage Avenue. Interment will take place at a later date, in Baden Baden, Germany where she will be laid to rest with Jamie Lynne. Her family would like to thank the many friends who have rallied around to support them during this difficult time; as well as Unicity Taxi and The Canadian Forces for their generosity and support. In lieu of flowers, donations in Daphne's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6-200 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
