SHANNON LEIGH ELLIS It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden tragic passing of Shannon Leigh Ellis on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at the age of 22 years. Remaining to forever cherish Shannon's memory are her mother Deidre (nee Stewart), Father David, brother Scott and sister Laura. She will also be dearly missed by her grandmothers Ethel Stewart and Yvonne Ellis; Uncle Chris and Aunt Sandy; Uncle Greg and Aunt Barb; Aunt Heather and Uncle Jorg. Fond memories will be held by her great aunts Kathy and Joan and great uncle Don, many cousins and special friends; especially Doug Ryan. She was predeceased by her grandfathers Alex Stewart and Tom Ellis. Shannon was born on December 2, 1986 at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. She grew up in St. James and graduated from Westwood Collegiate. Shannon then attended the University of Winnipeg, majoring in Arts and Drama. Currently, Shannon was apprenticing as a Pastry Chef through RRCC, at the Radisson Resort in Heckla Island. Family and friends have loving memories of Shannon's Scottish Dancing years, from age five to 13. Her dancing set the stage for her love of drama and arts. She will be remembered by Westwood Collegiate for her enthusiasm and skill in drama and improv. Since graduation, she has remained involved with the school by coaching the Improv Team, and taking the group to Ottawa to compete at the national level. Shannon loved her family and her friends. She possessed an inner strength that was far beyond her years. Shannon will be terribly missed by all of us that loved her. A celebration of Shannon's life will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 1:00 p.m., in the Main Sanctuary of Calvary Temple, 440 Hargrave Street. Pallbearers will be Shannon's close friends, Theresa, Alix, Dan, Steve, Justin and Scott. Thank you to the RCMP and medical staff at Arborg Hospital and Health Sciences Centre for their valiant efforts to keep Shannon with us. In lieu of flowers, donations will be appreciated to the Westwood Collegiate Arts and Drama Program, 360 Rouge Road, Winnipeg, MB R3K 1K3 or The Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3.
