ROWENA GREENBERG May 29, 1923 May 23, 2009 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Rowena Greenberg (nee Peikoff) at Riverview Health Centre. She is survived by her husband, Leonard, her children, Howard (Lindy), Shawn (Robert Carr) and Lynnie Rappaport, and grandchildren, Rebecca Bruni (David), Laura Greenberg (Mark Schachter), Jill Carr, David Carr, Amy Rappaport and Lissie Rappaport. Rowena grew up in Grandview, Manitoba and moved to Winnipeg after high school. She met Leonard as he entered medical school and they were married in July, 1946, on the day he took his last exam. Rowena devoted her life to her family and her home. She was a wonderful cook and a gracious host whose table always had room for more. She was generous to a fault with her time and energy. Rowena was a unique individual - vivacious and gregarious and capable of seeing the good in everything and everyone. Her boundless love and good humour will be greatly missed. Funeral services were held at Shaarey Zedek Synagogue on May 25, 2009. The family would like to thank Cathy Taflan and the staff at Riverview Health Centre, 2 West, for their compassionate care during the last few months.
