DAPHNE SAWLER (nee BRIGHT) Peacefully after a short battle with cancer it is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Daphne Sawler. Surrounded by family, Mom passed away Monday May 25, 2009 at home in Winnipeg at the age of 70 years. Remaining to forever cherish Mom's memory are her husband Andy of 49 years; sons, Michael (Donna), Jeff (Rita) and granddaughter Christy; sister Audrey (Alec) in BC; brothers, Alan (Cecily) in England, Bob (Sheila) in BC; mother-in-law Florence; brother-in-law Don; sister-in-law Jean in Nova Scotia; nieces, Sharon (Chris), Tracey (Epeli) and nephew Tony (Maureen) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends in BC, Nova Scotia, Winnipeg and England. Mom also leaves to mourn long time friends, Ed (Jeannette), Darlene, Phil (Beige) and Linda (John) and Jerry. She was predeceased by both parents Agnes and David and brother David. Mom and her family came to Canada 55 years ago and settled in Charleswood, where she met Andy. She then started The Tiny Tot Program at Varsity View community center with Ann. Mom loved to garden, knit and make Barbie clothes for craft shows and to travel. In compliance with Mom's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. The family would like to express their thanks to the nurses and staff on the 3rd floor of the Grace Hospital and the nurses and staff of the palliative home care. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of your choice in Mom's name.
