MYRTLE KING (nee ANDERSON) Myrtle passed away peacefully on Monday, May 25, 2009 with her family by her side. She was born on September 20, 1910. Myrtle leaves to mourn and cherish her memory her son Rod and daughters-in-law Donna and Lesley. She was a very special Grandma to Shaun (Shannon), Brent (Marcia), Ryan (Sunny), Michelle (Jason) and Great Grandchildren Ethan, Kaylen and Jenna. As well Myrtle leaves to mourn her sister Florence along with many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Willie and her son Don. Myrtle was born and raised in Piney, Manitoba. After leaving home she went to work at various jobs in western Manitoba. In 1944 Myrtle married William (Willie) King. They lived in Winnipeg and after five years moved back to farm at Piney and raise their two sons, Don and Rod. While life's journey brought many struggles, she always found a gentle way through. She was a very hard worker, but whenever family or friends dropped by there was always time for a cup of coffee. Myrtle moved back to Winnipeg after Willie passed away and lived at Fred Tipping Place for 27 years. She made many friends and enjoyed travelling. Myrtle was a great piano player and loved sing-songs' at family gatherings. She enjoyed watching her soaps' and going to concerts and movies (including Star Wars!). She is best known for her great sense of humor and consideration of others. She especially enjoyed her children and grandchildren at the many family get-togethers they shared. A very special thank you to the staff at Meadowood Manor. We all appreciate the care and affection you gave to Myrtle. We would like to extend an invitation to Myrtle's family and friends to join us in a celebration of her life at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 1st at St. Vital Cemetery, 236 River Rd. A reception will follow at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
